A philosopher once said and we often quote: The only thing constant is change!
In a world with people and things constantly changing, we sometimes find it hard to find our footing. What was in season today is out of season tomorrow. What was once the new trend can soon become outdated in a blink of an eye. Before you can make a decision on one thing, another thing is there waiting for your input. My waist size goes up and down depending on my diet, stress level, or my commitment to exercise. Not even that, no matter how hard I seem to try, I can keep constant. It sometimes feels as though everything is out of your control.
But what gives me the most peace, hope, and joy is that no matter what, who, or how things change, God remains my constant. Malachi 3:6 NIV tells us that “I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed” Again in Hebrews 13:8 NIV we are assured that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever”.
In James 1:17 NIV, He tells us again that “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows”. We can find tons of Scripture that reassure us that God never changes, that He is our constant. It is as though He knew that in the midst of this crazy, chaotic world, we would need reassurance.
So, as that small whisper reminded me, as I was in the shower with all the what-ifs racing through my mind. I will leave this re-couragement for you today. This Christmas may look different for you. You may have had an extremely difficult year. You may have experienced a loss, be barely making ends meet or just holding on day by day. What ever situation you are facing today, be assured that you can run to God. His good and perfect nature never changes. You are not alone. He is always there waiting with open arms.
This is the season we celebrate the birth of Christ. Because of that, we can be assured that God had a first hand experience of what you are going through today. He was fully God and fully man. So, take a moment to thank Him for being your constant in the midst of this crazy and chaotic world. Sometimes praising God in the middle is all we need to do to get out of the rut we are in. My prayer is that you would experience God more intimately this season. I also pray that you will feel His presence so that you can be reassured that you don’t have to face anything alone.
I thank God for the hope in Isaiah 40:8 which assures me that even though “The grass withers, the flower fades, the word of our God will stand forever.” Now isn’t that a great promise that we can hold onto? I think so! Click Here.
Wishing all my readers a blessed Christmas Season and a Prosperous New Year. Be Re-Couraged in Christ!
